My interest in cars started when I was young, before I could even drive I was buying and selling used cars, changing engines and learning to make them run. I lived in a rural area of Long Island, NY and my friends and I would spend the weekends driving the cars I had running in the woods and perfecting our tree avoiding skills.
In 1967 my dad bought me a '62 Thunderbird, my dad was always a Ford man, all our cars were Fords. My dad figured it was a good car for a new driver, big and safe. He didn't find out how much power he'd bought me until he had to borrow my car to get to work...he spent the next few years worrying about how fast I was driving! Like most young guys I didn't have that car for too long but I was lucky to have two Lincoln's, a'61 and a '64, and a '59 Ford Skyliner (all of which I wish I still had!) and started a life long love affair with Ford cars, especially Thunderbirds!
It was a few years before I could indulge my passions for TBirds but I bought a '62 Hardtop and did a ground up restoration. This car took Best Thunderbird at it's first show and a first place at the VTCI Concourse. I bought my first convertible a couple of years later, restored it and received a Best of Show as well as a Senior car award at the VTCI Concourse.
